Course Overview:
The 6-Month English Course at NiML Mansehra is a comprehensive, progressive program that spans six months and covers all major aspects of language learning. It is designed for learners who are starting with basic knowledge of English and wish to improve their language proficiency to an advanced level.
This course will gradually take students through six CEFR levels: A1 (Beginner) to C1 (Advanced), with a focus on Grammar, Vocabulary, Fluency, Pronunciation, Writing, Reading, and Listening. Each level will focus on developing specific language skills, and students will be progressively challenged to handle more complex tasks in both speaking and writing.
By the end of the course, students will have achieved proficiency in using English in both social and professional contexts, be able to understand complex materials, and express ideas confidently and coherently.
Course Objectives:
- Grammar Mastery: Build foundational grammar and gradually move towards complex structures for precise communication.
- Vocabulary Development: Expand vocabulary and use it effectively in both casual and formal settings.
- Speaking Fluency: Focus on improving fluency in speaking, from basic conversation to advanced discussions, debates, and presentations.
- Writing Proficiency: Develop writing skills, ranging from basic sentence construction to advanced academic and professional writing.
- Reading Comprehension: Improve the ability to read and understand a variety of texts, ranging from simple passages to complex academic material.
- Listening Skills: Enhance listening comprehension, focusing on different accents, speech patterns, and varied contexts.

Months 1 & 2: A1 (Beginner) to A2 (Elementary) – Building Foundations

Reading:

Listening:
- Everyday Situations: Listening to short conversations and dialogues, focusing on familiar topics like greetings, introductions, and directions.
- Simple Instructions: Understanding basic spoken English in public places, stores, and offices.
Speaking:
- Introductions & Small Talk: Learn to introduce yourself and engage in basic conversations on everyday topics (family, hobbies, weather, etc.).
- Simple Questions & Answers: Practice asking and answering questions using the present and past tenses.
Writing:
- Basic Sentence Construction: Learn how to write simple sentences and short paragraphs, describing daily routines, likes, and dislikes.
- Email Writing: Write simple formal and informal emails for basic communication (e.g., asking for information, making appointments).
Month 3: A2 (Elementary) to B1 (Intermediate) – Expanding Grammar and Vocabulary

Reading:
- Short Articles & Texts: Reading and analyzing short stories, advertisements, and news reports. Focus on identifying details, opinions, and facts.

Listening:
- Daily Conversations: Listening to longer dialogues and interviews in everyday situations (e.g., at the airport, in a restaurant, at work).
- Audio Clips: Understanding audio materials that include background noise or multiple speakers, focusing on gist and specific information.
Speaking:
- Describing Experiences & Events: Use the present perfect and past tenses to describe past experiences, travels, and significant life events.
- Giving Opinions & Suggestions: Expressing personal opinions on familiar topics, and learning to make suggestions and ask for advice.
Writing:
- Descriptive Writing: Writing detailed descriptions of people, places, or experiences.
- Opinion Essays: Writing short essays that give your opinion on a common topic, using clear arguments and examples.
Month 4: B1 (Intermediate) to B2 (Upper Intermediate) – Enhancing Complexity

Reading:
- Complex Articles & Opinions: Reading longer articles on familiar and unfamiliar topics (news articles, blogs, product reviews).

Listening:
- Podcasts & Discussions: Listening to podcasts, interviews, and discussions on academic or social issues and answering detailed comprehension questions.

- Debates & Discussions: Engaging in discussions and debates on topics such as current events, technology, education, etc. Expressing agreement, disagreement, and elaborating on opinions.

- Formal Writing: Writing formal letters, job application letters, and business emails with the appropriate tone and structure.

Month 5: B2 (Upper Intermediate) to C1 (Advanced) – Refining Skills

Reading:
- Academic Texts & Journals: Reading academic articles, research papers, and advanced fiction, analyzing structure, tone, and arguments.

Listening:
- Lectures & Debates: Listening to lectures and debates on advanced topics and answering in-depth comprehension questions.
- Advanced Listening Practice: Identifying key points, assumptions, and attitudes in extended spoken discourse.
Speaking:
- Presentations & Public Speaking: Preparing and delivering presentations on complex topics. Focusing on coherence, organization, and engaging the audience.

- Fluent and Spontaneous Speaking: Mastering fluency in complex conversations on professional and social topics.
- Advanced Public Speaking: Delivering formal speeches and engaging with the audience through persuasive language.
Writing:
- Advanced Essay Writing: Writing sophisticated essays on complex topics, using academic vocabulary, critical analysis, and citations.
- Professional Writing: Writing professional documents like reports, proposals, and business correspondence.
Final Assessment & Review:
- Mock Tests: Full-length mock exams for all four skills.
- Feedback & Strategies: Individualized feedback and strategies for improvement.

Outcome:
By the end of the 6-month course, students will be proficient in English at the C1 level, capable of expressing complex ideas, engaging in academic and professional discussions, and understanding a wide range of texts. They will have acquired advanced grammar and vocabulary, as well as the ability to communicate confidently in both written and spoken English.
